Tue Jul 17, 2012 11:36 pm

Name your idea of 3 knives with the "best" geometry. Sub-$300 & cost is not a consideration.

Sorry Adam. I had "Mark Richmond" on my mind. Was looking at knives at CKTG. :)

You have to remember, that was 5(ish) years ago too. I also bought a Kramer for $500....a REAL Kramer.

If I recall, the first Shigefusa damascus 240mm wa-gyuto I bought was just north of $300...now $715 @ JWW.

Got a Harner nakiri and a Butchiki for prices that would make you vomit too. :D

My gosh...bringing back a lot of really fun memories.

Hi Adam,

Was the Takeda 240mm near $180 approx 5 yrs ago? Do you recall roughly how much it was then...

Takeda is one of my choices actually...Surprised no one else mentioned yet as one of their "top 3" in terms of geometry (and fit/finish, value...not that expensive for the knife it is IMHO).
