Hi Don,

For others, these are the knives we're talking about:

The handle is ho wood.

The shape of the handle is ovall shaped.

The ferrule is made out of plastic.

These are pretty standard and cheap wa handles that you see on lots of lower priced Japanese knives. Nothing special but they do the job.
