Who ships faster ground, USPS or Fedex?

I find Fed Ex to be quicker on long ships. Typically if something is shipped to me here in Seattle from east of the Mississippi on a Monday, I'll get it Friday from FedEx and the next Monday from UPS. However sometimes UPS will re-schedule a package during transit and deliver it a day early where as it seems like FedEx will let it sit in the depot a day and not deliver it early.

I find it to be a flip of a coin, both do an excellent job.

USPS Priority is usually the quickest; 3 days coast to coast. UPS is like 5 business days, Fed Ex is a day shorter for coast to coast.

I find that Priority mail is almost always 2 day service. Every now and then it comes on the thrid day but that is rare. At one time it was more like three day but they seem to have imporved it a lot in the last 2 years.

Parcel post and or 1st class do that all the time. Priority mail is a different animal. Sometimes they screw that up too though but not often. Mark sent me some stuff once and by the tracking update it was due to me the next day here in Seattle. Didn't show that day as expected, two days later it was in Colorado. Ended up taking about 8-9 days to get here. The exception and not the rule for sure.

I would say USPS if it is Priority. Plus they deliver on Saurday AND Monday where Fed Ex Home does not deliver on Mondays.
I would agree that both do an excellent job although I see efficiency gaps with USPS that I never noticed before. I am sure it is because of the cut backs.

Ugh, both have advantages. USPS is cheaper, but not more reliable. USPS tracking is miserable and making an insurance claim is near impossible. USPS "looses" a disproportionate amount of packages. Fedex is more expensive, but better tracking gives me greater piece of mind. Never filed a claim witb fedex so I dont know how good they are with it.(but they never gave me a reason to file a claim which is a plus) It may take longer, but they always deliver on the day they say they will. USPS seldome does. (My last package shipped using usps took 10 days to travel 30 miles and showed up trashed).

Kari, you are based in UK correct? USPS does not operate in the UK.
