I like the goko but now I'm looking at the moritaka nakiri and it looks real nice which one is the better buy

I personally would go with the Goko Nakiri vs. the Moritaka. Goko has stainless cladding - that's enough for me to put it ahead of the Moritaka. Just my opinion. Goko's are a lot of value for the money.

I'd get the Goko of the two, as well.

If edge retention is going to be a big deal for you then get the Moritaka, it will hold its edge much longer. Otherwise I'd grab the Goko as well. :)

The Goko will work well; I have a Goko gyuto here I got to use a bit and it cuts great!! Good F&F, handle may be on the large side for those with smaller hands.

All carbon, Tanaka Sekiso is an awesome knife. Very light, very thin blade, cuts really well. The blade is a little shorter than I prefer height wise, but it works well. Great knife if you are OK with all carbon! Handle is nicer than the Tanaka Kurouchi series handles.

Tanaka KU is a more rustic version. Blue #2 core steel, same as the Sekiso line, but the blade is Kurouchi finished (like the Moritaka) and is less refined than the Sekiso. The handle is cheaper, too. The blade, however performs very well and it is taller than the Sekiso and have a great profile. Incredible cutter as well, takes and holds a wicked edge. F&F isn't as good as the Sekiso, but it's a lot less money, so fixing the sharper spine/choil areas will probably need to be done but isn't hard. Blade performance is excellent, just about on par with the Sekiso.

Another one to check out is the Richmond AS Laser. Very very thin behind the edge, takes and holds a wicked edge, cuts on par with the Tanaka Nakiri's. Stainless cladding, Aogami Super core. Nice convexing to the blade as well, good food release.
