Try balsa with boron carbide paste. It's a good combination. Leather is my second choice for most common kitchen knives. If you get into straight razors come back because there is a whole other world of options for stropping a straight razor.

Thank you for the resourceful site filled with helpful videos, prompt responses and suggestions...I just placed my order

How do I know when it time to reapply the boron carbide paste?

I looks like so little boron carbide paste is used for an application that a bottle of the stuff will likely last a long lifetime, if it does not dry out first.

If drying out is an issue perhaps it makes sense to offer in a smaller size.
