What's your best wa gyuto under $250?

Mon Jan 07, 2013 4:35 pm

Hi Mark/Sue, I want to buy an Addict 2 in CPM-154, I want to choose the best knife under $250, to me it's very important the thickness and edge retention, that's why I want the Addict, but, do you have any other recommendation? Wa, right handed, 240mm. Thanks

The Addict 2 is a nice knife and I wouldn't recommend against it.

However, there are a lot of great knives in that price range.

You didn't specify stainless, so the Tanaka damascus is a nice choice.

The Goko are new to the scene and very nice stainless clad, carbon core knives. I would have preferred a nicer handle, but the blade is super nice.

There are others too.

That Goko is a good knife. I also like the Kono 240 HH in that price range. Sakai Takauki Grand Chef or the Hammered Damascus are also good and hit that price point.
