What do you think about these 3 items?

Hi Mark,

I'm thinking of buying the Tojiro Sink Bridge from your company as well as the Super Togeru Sharpening Guide (Item # FC-430) for $11 and the King Delux King 1000 grit whetstone.

What do you think of the items I'm looking at?

Thanks,

Hi Rodney,

The Sink Bridge is good. I actually use the Naniwa one and I couldn't be happier with it for about half the price. I would suggest you save some money here and then get a better stone than the king.

The angle guide is cheap but really it's not necessary. The guides are like training wheels. It's better to just jump on the bike and fall a couple times until you get the hang of it without them.
Save your money on this.

The King stone is ok and it's cheap. Some people like it because it's nice and muddy but again you can apply the money I just saved you above and get a quality stone or two. Here are a couple suggestions:

I like the 1K Arashiyama very much for not too much more money:

If you don't own any stones consider getting a combo stone. I like the Imanishi combo a lot. Both sides are good:

Also the Shapton Glass stone is easy to easy to learn on because it's hard and it's a splash and go stone. It's good but if you wanted to use just a single stone I would go for the 2K. It still cuts well and polishes your edge better:

I'm not sure if you looked at my videos but this might help if you're just starting to sharpen. I'm assuming you're just starting because of the interest in the angle guide.
