I have this nice straight razor that Keith bought me and I've been practicing with it. What do you use?

I use a zwilling 5/8 stainless and love it, I used to own dovos and will own some again. Tomorrow I will be sharpening or touching up mine with my BBW (Belgian blue whetstone) and a coticule, and than stropping on some kangaroo hide. Ill be posting pics when I am done. I guess the resident experts are Michael Vanholdt, thom blodget, and ken Schwartz and I will throw my two cents in now and than. I hope y'all enjoy this forum I put the bug in marks ear today and he agreed that it would be good to do. So come on you str8ight razor conossouirs and even safety razors are welcome too not to mention the Japanese razor sold by Cktg. Peace, jmbullman

The dovo 5/8 are great that's what I cut my teeth (face) on the take a great edge espically the carbons the only thing is while your sharpening watch out for the shoulder if your not carefull you'll be cutting that too along with only half the blade touching the surface and it Will make for a hell of a fix. Been their done that that's one of the reasons my new razor is round and shoulderless. Peace and happy shaving. Jmbullman

I am in total awe. I would give my big toe for one like that you are a very very lucky person. Now if we can just get mark to carry some like that......the Cktg saga continues! Peace and no nicks please, jmbullman

I always use shapton Pro stones up to 8k, then finish on 15k Pro and AlOx gel, or a coticule, or a Jnat.

JAMES/MICHIEL <> How much time on rocks do you actually spend, and how often do you actually have to take them there? I'm well aware steel, usage & skill are factors... it's a general question for a straight edge virgin that would potentially be utilizing one razor.
