Western to Wa Converted Hiromoto

Mon Sep 24, 2012 2:57 pm

I did the work on this knife for a friend who now wants to sell it. So instead of incurring the cost of another ship, I'm going to sell it for him.

The knife is one of those old stock Hiromoto White steel western handled gyuto's that popped up at JCK a while back and quickly sold out. However, the handles were...well, they were not great.

So let's make it a wa and stick an absolutely killer Stefan Keller handle on it. The existing bolsters were removed and the tang ground down to fit within a wa handle. Now...it's amazing. :)

I believe the handle is Kukui Nut and blonde buffalo horn ferrule/buttcap with a few spacers.

Asking price is $325.00 including shipping within the US. That's basically my work in this for free.

Payments by PayPal or USPS Money order. If using PayPal, I'll probably ask that you send two payments...one to me and one to the owner.

Now, some added details. The handle is currently not glued on. If you want a different handle for this knife, (I don't know why you would, but everyone has tastes I guess), I can make a new wood body & ferrule handle for $100 (not normal pricing) with any wood I have on hand. That will be in addition to the above $325 and you will end up with the Stefan Keller handle as well. The above is a package that is not mine....I am only offering this as a choice after talking to the owner. He needs it sold, and we didn't want the handle to be a limiting factor....again, everyone has tastes.

To be clear though....if you just take the knife as pictures, I will glue the handle on.
