Stumbled on this video. Thought some of you might find it interesting. It is always cool to see a knife maker talk shop. Pretty basic stuff but kinda a cool primer on the custom maker market.

I enjoy my CB, I think he does nice work. The grind is good, it needed a bit of thinning, but nothing out of the ordinary. I enjoy the edge profile. I have never been overly fond of the flatness of the edge profile on j knives and this one suits me well. The knife was very handle heavy, due mostly in part to the design and also the material used. I re did the handle with some maple and drilled some holes in the tang to shift the balance and it now sits neutral a few cm in front of thr handle.

I think his prices are in line, if not a bit cheaper than alot of the hand made guys out there. I would buy again, maybe carbon next time.

Very cool to get into the mind of another artisan. As a commercial photographer, I totally understand the difficulty in balancing the needs of consumers and the want of the artist. Amazing the steadiness of his hands.

Don't know if I would like the weight and profile of his knives. Seems they would be pretty heavy being a full tang and fairly thick spine. Just got my first J knife, but I can already say, after owning a Wusthof Chef's, that I much prefer the flatter profile of the J knives. I could even see a Kono Kiritsuke in my future.

They are not thick at the spine at all, I dont have my calipers handy, but they are on par with a med weight j knife as far as spine thickness. Not as thin as a Kono, but certainly not as thick as a wustie.
