Hello,

What stone would cut (swarf), feel (texture) and wear (dishing) as the Chosera 1000? I need a new 1000 grit stone. I don't like muddy or overly soft stones.

Obvious answer, new 1k chosera.

Second option, Nubatama 1k gold. Faster cutting and has more "grab" when sharpening. Also a little faster wearing.

A 1k chosera would cut, feel, and wear like a 1k chosera. Why change if you like it? I have a chosera 3k and I love it but my current 1k is the speckled nubatama ume which I love as well. The nubatama bamboo 1k gold looks nice as well.

Hard to beat the Nubatama 1K gold for the price, not too hard, not too soft, removes metal quickly for its category, I've been pleased with mine. Might need to try the Ume 1K medium next though.

Arashiyama 1k. Not overly soft or muddy with a price that's hard to beat. I've never tried the Chosera so not sure how it would compare.

The 1k Arashiyama is extremely muddy by comparison and not even close to how a chosera feels.

Like I said, don't get a 1k Arashiyama, it is nothing like the Chosera. :D

Thanks guys.
The Chosera certainly is a good stone.But. It drys fast, gets clogged quick and doesn't cut overly fast. It is my favorite Chosera though. The plus..it's a forgiving stone, not too much mud, dishes fairly slow, and will polish like a house on fire.
In my personal opinion/experience.

You should try the 800 chosera, we use it instead of the 1k and it works very well. Lots of cut and no clogging.
