Seriously gonna buy these from CKTG:

http://www.chefknivestogo.com/3pcstoneset.html

http://www.chefknivestogo.com/dmtextracoarse.html

but already have naniwa deluxe 800 and 1000, and a 12k polishing slate from china (only stuff i can get locally), i can get by with the naniwa coz all i have are western knives at the moment

was wondering if i should get the dmt xxc first and get the 5 pc. set later on or get the set first then the flatter later.

My stones really need flattening.

or will I be able to get by by just getting the http://www.chefknivestogo.com/140grdistflp.html which is way cheaper and at the same time get the 5 pc. set along with it then just decide to get the DMT XXC later on? and then i'll finally throw in that ultimate edge knife bag on the 2nd order.

I got a used Tojiro DP 240mm and a used Yoshihiro VG10 135mm petty coming in the next few days so now I'm looking at stones for them.

and Mark, would you mind if you can weigh them all along with the packaging dimensions? so I can put the shipping costs/customs taxes, via my 3rd party courier, into consideration?

thanks.

and if anyone else has advice on what i should do please do so.

=D

Get the stones and the cheap flattener. You can get the better flattener later if you think you need it.

Email me about the weight and I'll stick them all in the box and weigh what you decide on for you.

That's the one! Don't think CKTG replies on emails during weekends though.
