Hello, my name is Alex and I've recently purchased a Kanenaga razor and a couple of hones. Great products and service. I am new to straight razors and honing and have'nt had much luck trying to sharpen the razor. I was hoping you could post a video on sharpening a Japanese razor.

Search the internet for "sharpening a kamisori". There are several videos available. If you are familiar with sharpening traditional Japanese single-bevel knives like a yanagiba, the process is much the same. You sharpen the right-hand side of the blade and just debur the left-hand side. I've found that stropping is best done on a bench strop rather than a hanging strop.

What grit stones did you buy? You'll probably want to finish on a minimum of a 10000 or 12000 grit stone, and a 16000 Shapton GS is even better.

I agree. On kamisori's you can't get away with an 8k edge. The 10k or 12k super stone would be a fairly cheap upgrade. A 15k or 16k Shapton would be even better.
