Hi

I really cant decide betwen those two knives. :?
RICHMOND AS http://www.chefknivestogo.com/rilaaosu24gy.html
MASAKAGE YUKI http://www.chefknivestogo.com/mayugy24.html

YUKI is hand made with nice f&f and looks really great. Looks like it have more soul over richmond, but richmond look's like a beast. It look very agresive and i like that. The biggest concern is the thickness of the richmond. Is it really so thin over edge that can chip on turnip or kohlrabi. They should perform similary, but what is the main difference between them? They are both awesome knives, so which one should i buy, need some your HELP with my decision.

CHEERS

The Richmond Laser is a beast it is... I loved mine just sold it wonderful knife I didn't have issues with hard ingredients nice thing behind the edge excellent grinds.

If you want character go with the Yuki, you want a monster, get the Richmond.

I own a yuki and it is by no means thick behind the edge. I haven't seen a Richmond so I can't comment on its thickness but the yuki wouldn't fall into a workhorse category.

The Yuki is a little heavier and thicker in the spine but I think I would have to go with the Richmond and the AS steel.

Deciding between the two would probably come down to what I had, or wanted.

Do you want to try AS? Do you want a thinner/lighter knife? They're both nice.

The Yuki looks cooler, the laser has a nice easy to sharpen steel. Both knives will likely serve the same purpose. You can cut turnips and kohlrabi all day long on either knife. Just be mind of how you press into the blade. I use the Richmond Kohetsu with a thin edge...I sometimes use it to slice through hard cheeses and it doesn't chip. The limitations seem to be solid frozen blocks of meat :)

It is a very hard decision because they are both great knives. Sometimes it comes do to eeny meeny miny moe, it's all you can do. I will say from your OP that you sound like your leaning toward the Yuki, get it and be happy!
