Mark, an cool new hand forged kitchen knives of interest? Did Devin ever make a new batch of pettys?
Two of my kids are Chefs, my wife and I are both ex-Chefs, and my work takes me to Japan at least once a year. I went to Seki and made some good connections there for high quality kitchen knives. Point is I am always interested in something nice for myself or the kids….
Regards,
Wayne

Anything in that price range I buy from Michael Rader, I think his knives are better then Bob Kramer customs. I have been in both their shops and made knives with both of them. I was looking for a little more affordable. The custom forged kitchen knives I have been buying direct from Seki maker’s rarely run over $400.

Best regards,
Wayne

Wayne, there are lots of cool upcomming makers forging their own steel close to that price range. Check out Moriah Cowles of Orchard steel to start.

Wayne - Rader does some excellent work and I could be wrong, but I haven't seen Rader create his own pattern-weld Damascus such as the Haas knives Mr. Richmond recommended. I can understand not wanting to spend that kind of money, but comparing pattern-weld Damascus prices to strip steel forged in Seki is apples to oranges.

Take a look at the pictures on the custom makers section of the forum and see if anything resonates with you knife-handle-makers-f34.html

Hey Wayne!

The two knives I've been thinking about lately (thanx to that guy Melampus) are the Masamoto KS and the Fujiwara series.

Killer profile, and oh so thin:

Shirogami @ ~ 65 HRC? :?

Not sure if they're new to you or not, but they look like great knives to me. :)
