Hello Mark,

I have a few questions:

1. Could you please explain why the honyakis listed on your site are made from white #2 rather than white #1.

2. I am in need of your advice on this comparison: Konosuke Ginsan vs. Sakai Takayuki Ginsan

3. What would be the wait time for the Devin Thomas 150mm damascus petty?

4. What can you tell me about the Nubatama knives that isn't stated in the product description (retention, sharpness, etc. vs. W1/B2)

Thank you,
Ryan

Hi Ryan,

1. It depends on the blacksmith. They can be made with anything technically but usually they are made with the Hitachi carbon steels. So we can get white #2, #1 blue #2 etc.

2. Get the Konosuke Ginsan. I like it better.

3. I've been waiting for a year for Devin's pettys. I spoke to his son last week and he said the damascus steel was being made last week so they're about 25% done. My wild guess is we'll have them by xmas.

4. Most of the info I have on the Nubatamas is on the site. They're made in a very secretive way. I don't even know the smith nor do I know exactly what black steel is or it's element composition. Sorry I can't be more help on them.
