Hey, wasn't sure under which heading to post this, so am doing it under "General Discussion."

This is a brand new board I ordered from John Loftis at Lone Star Artisans. It is about 2.5 to 3 inches thick and made of solid cherry. Was able to specify the dimensions and John banged it out in short order. The work is phenomenal; Beveled edges are perfect, and the seams are flawless. So far, it is just sucking down oil, but when applied, it turns a beautiful ruby red. Can't wait to put it through the paces. Never had a cherry board, so really looking forward to how they work on my edges (supposed to be very kind). PS, the board was cheaper than anything I could have bought in my area cooking stores, and the quality is just top notch. I know that Mark ordered a bunch of boards from John, so here is my vote for the work coming out of that small Texas shop! Keep at it!

PS, again, if I posted this in the wrong place, feel free to move it (if that is possible)!

Help, walk me through posting a pic... It won't let me post my Jpeg. Will re-edit and send if I can figure out out to attach.

I have a cherry board from another top-notch maker. I think you'll find that it will soak up a lot of mineral oil for the first month and then taper off. As long as it's being absorbed overnight, don't worry about over oiling. You'll also find, I think, that the wood will darken considerably over time.

If you put it up on Photobucket, it's easy to link the photo's. I haven't tried them as an attachment yet?
