I see lots and lots of beautiful custom made handles here. But in a work environment I think less bling makes more sense. But people like custom looks. So why not make a japanese style handle out of Delrin in custom colors?

I am an awful trumpet player and use a plastic top threaded to a metal shank otherwise known as the backbore. It got me thinking why not make a Wa handle where a threaded counterweight could be threaded into the end of the knife handle....This would allow an adjustable balance point to some degree...The variances in grams per handle could adjusted to personal tastes or perhaps even tasks...

Am I off my rocker for thinking an adjustable weighted handle made out of a cheap material would be really cool...

I am pretty sure that I have seen something like that, but with different hard plastics. It is a great idea and delrin is an amazing material... When I was younger and big into mountain biking, i had a machinist make some delrin bushings for one of the pivots. He made about 20 up for me. In 1o years, I have hardly worn away the original set that I put in. Amazingly durable material.

Yeah I like the adjustable balance idea along with using high tech materials, low maintenance for handle. But do it in a way that still looks traditional. Eg a wa looking handle with synthetic materials on full tang and the adjustable weight.

Edit: also like handle end that can smash garlic.

It's kind of like all the new golf clubs that you adjust for a draw or fade? Sounds like a great idea.

So kind of like a pool cue?
You can adjust the weight in the butt of the cue to your personal style?

great idea!

I've already dreamed up an idea as well. If you don't want to do it I would be willing to take a stab at it.

Not sure how practical it is, most people know where they like the balance point to be.

I like the idea of easy customisable weight in the handle.
