I've noticed the 240 Richmond aogami lasers with maple handles are advertised as being 3.16mm at the spine whereas the older ones were 3.8... Does anyone know if this is a typo or are they truly ground differently

The tangs are forged out, so there is a bulge and they taper down towards the tip of the knife and to the tip of the tang. It may be that the handle is further away or closer to the heel of the knife and there will be some variance due to the taper as well in the individual handle. Or they could have been ground a little differently.
