I thought you guys would like to see the reports I get for heat treatment of my Kohetsu knives. This is way more detailed than the usual info you get from most heat treaters and they're very serious about it. They take several random samples from the steel they cut and chop up the blanks and perform this test not only on the core steel. Their heat treat equipment is in a room that looks like a lab with microscopes, heat treat testers etc. They told me not to take pictures in there. :)

Many smaller blacksmiths that do their own heat treatment don't test at all and just give you a range that is a guess based on a test they did years ago. With these Kohetsu knives, I get a report on every batch they do.

We're shooting for 63 HRC on these in general and we can move that hardness up or down based on performance characteristics of the steel.

Also, 30 x 270mm Gyuto and 30 x 180mm Santoku will be
shipped by EMS around the end of this week or early next week, and 90 x 240mm
Gyuto will follow shortly after them.

It's a good looking knife. I hope to have some money for when the HAP40 rolls around. I want a knife of each different steel type before buying others purely because I want them :D

That's really nice to see how serious they are about heat treating. In my opinion, they hit the heat treat for this Aogami Super right on the nail. It takes an incredible edge and really holds it well. The knife is more of a laser than the Laser Aogami Super, and it just flat out performs. :)

I'm sure this will be a top 10 selling knife next year. It's a whole lot of knife for the money. They've been flying already.
