Here is a look at the progress we've made on the sharpening jig. I think this is going to work pretty well. We need to decide on whether to add a screw and sliding back stop plate to it or just use a magnetic pad on top.

I think you need the backstop or the knife will move fore and aft, changing the bevel angle.

Not sure about the sliding stones. I would personally prefer stones fixed to the rod.

I know you're trying to keep this affordable, but I would love to see the angle adjusting mechanism be rack and pinion. Maybe a small crank wheel like on a lathe...or not...
