I've got a CCK 1303 cleaver which I love. However, I'm not sure yet how to store it. My magnetic rack is not strong enough for its weight.

What do you do? Do you use a saya? Or does CKTG have a block in which I can put it?

I keep mine in a drawer on top of a dish towel. But if I had the wall space, I'd keep it on a knife magnet for sure. Sounds like you need a better magnet! The CCK has a LOT of surface area for the weight, so it should be one of the easier things to put on a magnet. In my old kitchen where I had a magnet, it stuck just fine.

I got a set of these blade savers. Use one on my cleaver and have it stored in my knife bag.

edit- this is the bag I use. Mark sells a similar case, sans the outer pockets (I think).

I use my magnetic strip. I'm suprised yours doesn't work since there is so much surface area to stick to a magnet. We do sell a nice cleaver stand and a saya for the cck so those are options if your magnet doesn't work.

I have a custom Boardsmith block that hangs on the wall that has two slots that run parallel to the wall in the back that hold cleavers. Awesome block!! :)

Your mag-strip won't hold a 1303?? My 1303 slams into mine with a terrifying force!

I do...but that doesn't mean I don't have a couple. :p

I could never get into the hang of using a cleaver as a base knife. I have one veggie cleaver....el cheapo.....and a beast of a bone crushing vintage cleaver that a friend sent me. It's gorgeous. :)
