Received two Firodur's nr17 from Japan last week. Thay arrived with alot of dirt and the scales where aged in color, the scale inlays where green . But After a good clean up with hand sanding on the scales to remove the dark yellow layers thay became like new again. The blades are 7/8+ and have only been factory honed. Here is the result.

Beautiful job Mr. M.

What kind of shape were the blades in? Would love to know your progression in restoring those.

Thank you!

Well the blades where just dirty and since this is stainless blades thay dont get pitting very easy. So with the blades i just hand sanded from 1000 grit up to 6000 grit where i feelt it was enugh.
The scales had alot damage in color from laying in the sun. So i had to sand them down to get to the right color. I went from 600 grit up to 12k to bring up a nice shine.
All razors that i restore i do by hand and not with buffing wheels witch im not a fan of. Takes longer by hand but atleast its done without any heat to the blades.

Really stunning work. Do you resell these when you are finished or are they for your personal use?
I've just recently started shaving with a straight razor and I've bought a couple of used razors on ebay - I know what a time consuming process it is to even approach the kind of quality you've accomplished.
I'm not jealous, but I am envious!
