What's with the hyperlinks all of a sudden today? Really annoying. Mark, I'm sure the forum software providers are behind it but if there is ANY way that it can be disabled you should do it. Stainless steel seems to be a trigger term, ugh! It would be easier to ignore if you actually had to click on the link, but the ad comes up with just a mouse over. YUK!

I use adblock plus and don't have that problem. I don't even see the ad banners at the top and bottom of the page.

Indeed something that's happening on phpBB. No way to disable unless paying BIG money.

Would advice using this: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... idom?hl=en

Adblock Plus works for several browsers. Just google it.

Meh. Chrome isn't an option for me. So LAME! ;(

A better solution would be running your own phpBB or vBulletin or one of many other forum software options that are very low cost, just the cost of hosting for many of them. You'd have much better control over the whole forum experience for you as admins and especially for the users. You could even make money with it by selling your ad space to targeted clients that your users will be interested in.

The FreeForums.org provider you are using is the source of all this embedded advertising. Banners are tolerable, the linked text in the message bodies is just not.

Must be broken. I just started seeing them today and they claim HERE that if a user is logged in they won't see the embedded ads.

Many months ago, I was having issues with advertisements that kept on popping up with this forum only. I remember Badoink was a particularly menacing one.

Mark had, at the time, paid a nominal fee out of his pocket to eliminate a level of advertising. Maybe that fee expired...

According to the webhost support site this particular advertising is a new thing and should not be seen by logged in users. I am no longer seeing it. I think it was just broken for loggen in users for a day or two that I was seeing it.
