Impromptu grill party built entirely around what our hostess had in the fridge. Turned out OK, considering.

Squash and asparagus.

Nopales (prickly pear cactus?), sausages, portobello mushrooms.

Check out that crap slicer in the foreground. Prep (what there was of it) was pretty much done with my SAK (in the background). This is turning into a habit. I really should get some decent, cheap knives to carry around in the truck.

Couple of small steaks, queso flameado, grilled chiles.

Looks seriously fun. I grilled some shrooms, asparagus, and squash for a veg option tonight myself.

If you want truck knives, just upgrade that Victorinox to... bigger Victorinoxes. Seriously, everyone should own a few Fibroxes. Or you could do what I do and keep your kit in your car at all times with a coat and hat as a traveling chef.

I have an 8" Ikon Blackwood in a knife safe <--link with a combi-stone in a case <--link in my truck at all times so as to not get stuck in any kitchen w/o a viable edge to work with.

As for keeping your kit in your car... HORRIBLE IDEA.. once you realize how easy it is to instantly & silently break into a car.

Embracing the silence amid a life and land full of static...
