The scales on my Hankotsu were not appealing so . . . desert ironwood with brass pins and a home made mosaic were in order. The "coke bottle" shape feels great in the hand for both front of hand and overhand work.

I love ironwood and that is dark and light at the same time. Looks really good. Keep up the good work!

Looks like we'll be putting it to the test next weekend. We're doing a whole pig for my daughter in law's big 40 party. That's going to be a good time!!

Nice job Mike, very classy looking with that mosaic pin and the way you aligned the wood grain from one scale to the other. I like the contoured shape as well.
