Switch to full style
We have a massive amount of Edge Pro products so we figured it would be good to have a whole section on how to use the machine and what to use on it.

Upgrading my sharpening

Mon Dec 17, 2012 8:40 pm

Greetings,

I have a number of Japanese (Global, Mac, Sakai Takayuki, Suisen) as
well as Western (Henkel, Wustof, K & TI Sabatier) knives. I have been
using a Combo King stone (1000) and a Mac ceramic honing stick to keep
sharp.

I am looking to “upgrade”. I like the Edge Pro and Wicked Edge systems.

Can you give me your thoughts between the two?

The EP appears to keep the stone perpendicular to the edge and has more
stone choices and am thus leaning towards buying the EP.

Chosera vs. Shapton Glass - which is best?

I am looking to sharpen to a functional utility level at home.

Thank you in advance for your time.

HI Arnold,

I prefer the Edge Pro a little to the Wicked Edge but they're both good systems.

I also prefer the Shapton Glass Stones to the Choseras since they're splash and go stones that require no soaking and they're thicker than the Choseras so they will last longer.
