I have lots of machinery, some new, some old, that makes it much easier! I have a method down where I just go through the processes. Trace, cut out the profile, drill the holes, finish off the front edge (belt sander 60 grit belt, Ex fine Iwasaki File, 320, 400 sand paper, 1500 micro mesh), then epoxy. After that, the belt sander does quick work on rough shaping the handle and the Iwasaki files work very quickly to prep the handle for hand sanding. After that, it's all fit and finish work! The belt sanders really make the work quick, especially the 1x30 with the small contact wheel. I can usually get a handle done in around 2-3 hours. I always let them sit for a day after I bring it up to the 12,000 grit finish, and then go back and hand sand all of the scratches I find out and go to like a 1500 grit with the Micro Mesh. I like a little grip to the handle; the 12,000 is truly polished and can be slippery. Once I clean everything up with the 1500 Micro Mesh, I rub in some coats of Tru Oil to help seal up any tiny pores in the handles.

Tim, do you have a website where we can see your fishing poles? You're welcome to put a link to a blog, facebook or website on your signature line here so people can check out your work. I'll be sending you more stuff next week.

I have a website TAJOutdoors.net that I use, but I haven't updated it in a while. I have a blog at tajoutdoors.blogspot.com that I keep a running photo log of pretty much all of my rods and stuff since when I started the rod business back in 2008. The rods have slowed way down lately, so I added in the kit knives and rehandling to give me something to do. I enjoy the knife work more than the rod work!
Looking forward to the new stuff Mark!!
