It was a pleasure to be out, and if I am on the water, I expect to kill fish. The only disappointment was I pushed myself past the envelope, 90 minutes sleep in 60 hours with 20 hour & 18 hour work shifts, and then never got to the destination in which would have generated the fishing that dreams are made of: 100's of pounds of muttons, huge grouper in the shallows & depths, queens on the deep drops, yellowfins over 100# in the alley, dolphin all over, billfish always on the horizon.

My body shut down; I collapsed in my pickup at some unknown location on the way home. Woke up in a parking lot delerious & totally unaware of where I was. Fighting sunstroke, and battling low blood sugar. Pushing like that inches my grave just nearer & nearer killing me just a little more quickly than than the hell I already push myself through. Better than work? Yes. Worth killing myself a little more? I guess so.

Damn Mel - there was no sunblock anywhere on the boat?!! El Diablo indeed :-) You need to spike your hair into two points for a few days and scare the crap out of the dough boy newbie at work ;-).

No sunblock, and I already have to try hard enough to not scare the staff.

Fresh Mahi caught and on the grill hours after you landed them ,or sushi on the deck is like day and night compared to market fish. At least you came back in on 1 engine with fish on ice. I went out today and got skunked! That sun burn looks nasty, I can feel your pain. It doesn't take long before that South Florida sun bites you, been there done that. As Tim said chill out in your walk in cooler. Take care of yourself!

Melampus: Westport Connecticut. This time of the spring we are targeting Striped Bass. They are in the tidal rivers feeding on spawning Atlantic herring . I caught and released a bunch of 30" fish earlier in the week. A buddy I was fishing with yesterday landed a 34" 20 lb. bass. Fishing light tackle throwing soft plastic swim baits. Lots of fun on light tackle! Season is just starting in the Northeast, water temps only in the high 40 degree range.
