>> TANAKA SEKISO DAMASCUS REACTIVITY <<

Thu May 31, 2012 1:55 pm

Just read a CKTG customer review (always w/a grain of salt) on the 210 Wa-Gyuto whereas they explained how quickly the blade oxidized. Although it is made from Aogami, I ASSumed the Damascus imprinting would retard oxidation. I reckon my ASSumption was incorrect.?!

Any experiential opinions?

The damascus usually doesn't retard patina formation if the steel used is carbon on carbon. It kind of depends on the mix of steels used when they layer them in. I wouldn't call the Tanaks highly reactive. Kind of middle of the road.
