Re: Stropping ?'s

"That is unrealistically polished. Crazy!"

And those aren't even my finest compounds :) Clay is going to have to go to a scanning electron microscope to see those rersults - seriously.

This compound is 0.125 microns or 1/8 micron. I still have 0.1 microns, 0.050 and 0.025 microns. To give a size perspective, my 0.025 micron compounds - ten times finer than quarter micron, are the size of SMALL viruses - well beyond the size of bacteria.

What is truly amazing to me is that when you strop on plain nanocloth, you get NO metal swarf on the cloth. BUT, when you add a few light sprays of 0.025 micron Polycrystaline diamond - BAM, you get metal swarf on the nanocloth. Truly a pure compound effect with no competition - or scratches - from the substrate itself and definite abrasion at this ultrafine grit!

...I believe it not quite fair comparing pic 2 with pic 3 as different grits were used - pic 3 used an abrasive 8 x finer than pic 2 therefore it should present a more polished, scratch free surface......

.....just saying.....
