I have a hard time sensing the wire edge, especially on the ZDP, but running the blade through a cork helps and the cork shows the mark. My stone is problematic. I'm thinking of going with DMT diamond at 325 for repair and initial edge, 1200 for sharpening, and a 4K or 5K Sharpton as the last sharpening. I'd like finer stones but ... money. And I believe the 325 diamond would serve to flatten my natural and ceramic stones. Any thoughts?

Sounds nice. The DMT plate will flatten your stones just fine. I'd get the 5k Shapton over the 4k as I get perfect results with that stone after the 1500 Shapton or 1k Chosera.
You don't need anything finer than 5k, but it's fun

Thanks Michiel. Sounds like a plan.
