Strangest thing you've seen someone do with a knif

Thu Jun 07, 2012 10:07 am

So this topic comes about from something I witnessed at a family dinner not to long ago, I think roughly a week before memorial day.

I hate to call my mom out like this but it was hilarious. She was making some awesome green beans for whatever we were having that day, and usually she uses some form of bacon in them but this time she decided to get some kind of fat (fat back).

It was cooking in with her yummy fresh green beans and I was sitting at the end of the island watching her, and her favorite knife ever is a little 4" pairing knife, she will use this knife for everything. Anyway she was trying to cut the fat back in half while it was in the pan and I look at the knife and she was actually using the back (spine) of the knife to saw through this fat.

So I didn't want to make scene or make a joke in front of everyone, so I simply said Mom, flip the knife around. And she gave me a weird look but finally looked a little closer and gave me that OH face and laughed it off a little and said thank you.

It is a very thin knife, I just thought it was funny, but then again her eyesight isn't quite what it used to be.

So we ended up laughing about it, but like I said I didn't say anything to anyone about it, but it was hilarious.

So mom if you end up reading this (which I know you won't) I had to tell someone :)

take it easy

I sharpened an old Buck knife for the b-i-l, who showed up the day after with the same knife, now with a huge notch cut in the edge. It seems as if he and a buddy from work did the Buck logo thing and tried to cut a bolt in half. It didn't cut the bolt, but it sure did ding up that blade. I re-sharpened it after asking the obligatory: wtf? , not once but several times. Needless to say, he doesn't get to use my knives, and I only sharpen his "knives" on my Tormek or dry grinder. I do get loads of free deer and turkey, so it's not all bad........

Rednecktified, fo' sho'...........
