Stones from JCK

Sun Jan 06, 2013 9:49 pm

Hey Everybody, Just wanted to see if anyone here has used the stones that JCK offers? I am considering getting some of them because they are combination stones and because the price is in my range. My only concern is that usually, you get what you pay for. I dont want to end up buying crappy stones that dont last. I've invested a lot of money on my knives so i want some good sharening blocks. Any thought's,comment's, feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

They look like the Mizuyama stones. No experience with them though.

This is a post I found on a forum awhile back while doing some research that kind of sums it up when it comes to Japanese stones:

ADD is right about Bester/Vester - there's no V in Japanese, so they use B when needed. Imanishi is the company which makes the stones, and Bester is one of the brands they make - they also make the blue synth aoto, according to Toishi-erabu. Mizuyama is Korin's house brand, and while this particular combo stone appears to be a Bester, that doesn't mean every Mizuyama is made by Bester. Same thing as Ice Bear - they sell several different rebranded OEM stones in America. Clear as mud?

JCK stones are more than likely a rebranded King, Norton or some other related brand.
