Stone Storage

Tue Jun 04, 2013 1:24 am

My sickness has now overwhelmed two drawers in my kitchen. Now what???

What do you guys use for stone storage? Do you do your sharpening in a workshop or in the kitchen? Are you using something that can be wheeled around or is it stationary?

I need some ideas before the next shipment arrives (it is on order so that is soon)!

I keep all my sharpening toys in a rubbermaid storage box on a shelf in a storage room. When I sharpen I take my toy box to the kitchen and do my sharpening at the sink. I do keep a strop in the kitchen drawer for touch-ups.

Mostly several 6' x 4' metal shelves, glass cabinets, tool boxes, etc etc. They are everywhere :)

+1 to Jeff B!

I have two Rubbermaid totes though....one for perma-soak stones (it's smallish) and one for everything else.

My application is fairly compact and contained, but I'm sure I'll be growing out of it eventually. Many of my synthetics are full time soakers, so I keep them in a 5 gallon bucket and I found a great bucket caddy on Amazon for $20 bucks that attaches to my bucket and has enough large pockets to hold my Jnats, diamond plate, and other various tools. Works for the time being and allows me to stash my collection in the kitchen area without drawing too much attention from my wife.
