We have a massive amount of Edge Pro products so we figured it would be good to have a whole section on how to use the machine and what to use on it.

I would like to add the next stone to my ep kit I have the ep 120 220 400 & 1000 I would like to jump to the 5k chosera is that a reasonable move.

1k to 5k is totally reasonable. Seems to be a pretty common transition.

The EP 1000 is 7 micron, and the Chocera 2000 is 6.7 micron, so think of it as a jump from a Chocera 2000 to a 5000, which isn't that big a jump at all.

BladeForums has a "Grand Unified Grit Chart" that can help you with the other EP stone equivalents:

That same chart is here too pinned in the sharpening forum.

I like to add overlap when I change stone brand , or change to a different abrasive (say diamond to alox)

In this case I would add the 5k and 10k choseras to the list. The 5k chosera is going to provide a vastly different finish than the 1k stock EP stones.

I have looked at the charts I was not sure going from 7 microns to 3 microns was ok
