Stone Identification

Mon Aug 05, 2013 11:14 am

Hi Guys,

Last month I was away in North Carolina and while hiking, found several stones I thought might make good sharpening stones. Six turned out to be junk but one has turned out to be a really great 2K ish stone.

I'd like to identify what sort of stone it is?

Anyone know of a place that does such things?

Thanks.

Unfortunately, no, I don't know of any place that could identify what stone it is.

I'd reckon the best bet would be to find a local college with a geology department and see if they can tell you what it is.

I would give Ken a call. If he cant help you out he can certaintly point you in the right direction.
