Never from the surf, but living in South Florida as a youth - fishing is a way of life... it used to be, at least. I worked professionally on charter boats as a mate for many summers in the Florida Keys all the way down to the Dry Tortugas. I worked a lot in the Bahamian Islands, as well. Usually ran over to Bimini, then up to the "West End" of Grand Bahama Island, then up & around to Walker's on the top, then flank back down and around the Abocos. I'd have to scan photos to get the good stuff, but I have a couple recent on this hard drive. Actually, the last one is not recent. I was 13 years-old in the photo; 6'1" @180# for scale. That Cubera weighed 66#, and is still, 25 years later, the IGFA World Record in the 16# class.
