Shigefusa........

Hey guys, new member here. Was wondering if anyone has had any experience with, or has insight/opinions of Shigefusa blades. I'm close to purchasing my 1st one and wanted to check in on the forum first for any info.......

We used to cary them. We had some quality issues (broken tips and poorly fitting handles) so we discontinued them about 2 years ago. That said I still think they're good knives.

Lots of pros and cons to the Shiggies.

Incredibly reactive blades....like instant rust reactive.

Horrible western handle F&F. I've never seen one (and I've seen a lot) that wasn't shrunken to the point of serious discomfort.....it exposes so much of the tang the tang cuts into your hand.

Decent, basic wa handles.

Incredibly well made blades. Never seen (other than his KU series, which is not great) one that had any blade flaws.

I received my Shig a few days ago and i'm happy to say I am extremely impressed with the quality of this blade. My Wa handled 150 Kurouchi petty arrived in Flawless condition. I was so pleased that i put in an order for a Shigefusa Wa Kasumi Gyuto 240mm today.
