Although interested, I'm not quite ready to jump to a straight razor yet (I'm a bearded lefty, plus I'm still a padwan at fine sharpening), but I'm ready to upgrade to a nice brush and some good cream.
Any recommendations ?
Caveat: I have an acute sense of smell, so I lean towards unscented products, and failing that, as lightly scented as possible.

Hi ISI. welcome to the shavers room.
a good soap for you would be Taylor Of Old Bond Street Sensitive Skin Shaving Cream. and brush if you want good quality for the money you must get yourself a New Forest Brush from Fido.. i have 3 of his brushes and love them all. the key to a good brush is soft tips and a stong backbone for face lathering. so the model tubby 1 or tubby 2 is both perfect and cost under 50 pund shipped. he sells the brushes thruw his blog

Thank you VERY much.
My late Father had a fine brush for many years, and I've always thought about getting one myself, as a modest luxury.

Michiel - I'd watched the video of you shaving with that chinese cleaver immediately before posting my 'padwan' comment above. Really enjoyed your blog on sharpening.
