Lost stone/replacement stone conundrum. I decided to replace my lost Shun 1k/6k with a Shapton Pro 1k. Look. Out of stock. Wait. Wait. Resist Amazon.com. Wait. Decide that the Shapton Glass cannot be that different. Purchase Shapton Glass on Sunday 4/21. Wednesday 4/24:Ding. You have mail. Shapton Pro 1k back in stock. Ugh.

Question: Is there enough difference between the Glass and Pro to justify contacting CKTG, asking for a refund, returning and waiting? Or are they pretty much the same? Take into account my sharpening ability (beginner; been sharpening Fujiwara FKH for about a year on lost Shun 1k/6k stone. I really want to limit myself to one 1k stone in order to focus on my ability not my toy catalog).

Thanks in advance for your time and opinions.

cheers,
dane

The glass stone is great, you should not have any regrets related to your purchase.

Most would give an edge to the Glass Stone but they are both great stones, you will be happy with either.
