Looks like you'll be set to me. Pick up a blue scotchbrite sponge at the the crocery store. I use it to keep my stones clean and wet while sharpening, works great for me.

I was gonna ask what rags/cloths are most useful as the stock cloth with the EP is not very durable...so a scotchbrite sponge is the way to go?

I prefer the blue one, blue sponge with blue scuff pad vs. the yellow sponge with green pad.

After doing some reading, I am wondering if the ATOMA 140x PLATE is too coarse for flattening all my stones...

Is it better to go with a ATOMA 400x? Or will it be necessary to eventually get 2 plates?

Loupes, if you don't already have this covered. I have the 20x and 60x from this site. I like them both very much. Not expensive also. I just ordered the 30x with 60x also black one but it hasn't arrived yet. This one is not expensive either.

No it's not too coarse.

All set. Picked up an Atoma 140x plate, along with an Atoma 140x stone for the EP.

As well as... Shapton Glass Stones (320 / 500 / 1K / 2K / 4K / 8K / 16K).

With that and the Apex 4 set, I am good to go for a very long time!

Thanks to everyone who helped in the decision making!

Mark,

Thanks - received my set of stones today.

Sent you an email about one of them - had a chunk missing. Not sure how that happened...they were packaged really well...and there were no pieces in the box.

Anyways, let me know if there is anything we can do...I am planning an order of Choseras and a knife soon, so maybe you could squeeze a replacement in there? Let me know what you do for these situations.

Thanks!
