MARK <> Is this is a supply & demand thing, or are these permanent hikes?

Did you get that quote I sent you?
Sayas are a pain. People buy them for all kinds of different knives and they don't fit. I leave holes undrilled and some people complain. I drill some holes and others complain. It's just very technical and time consuming and fussy to try and get right with an online business where you're buying one thing to fit another that isn't around to test out. Returns are frequent which is a pain for the purchaser and us. You get where I'm going with this?
That said people love them and when they buy them together with the knife at the same time it's not a problem. Then I can slide it in, drill the hole and send it out knowing that it will fit the knife. Raising the price a little compensates me for the extra work these things require and makes less people buy them. The other alternative would be to discontinue them but there would be a mutiny. Most of the sayas are made by Konosuke so these tend to fit their knives well. I ccan totally see why many online knife dealers won't sell these individually.
OT question. Why do you use >>BRACKETS<< when you post stuff? I notice it on your emails too.

This is the technically difficult type of question I get almost daily.
Hi there i was wondering if you had some sayas to fit a few of my knives?
1) Tojiro ITK Shirogami Wa-Gyuto 210mm
2) MAC FKW-9 Yanagiba 10ź"
3) a 165mm deba that is 5mm thick blade.
Thank you for all your help.

Do you mind if I post your question on our forum?
The first one we can fit using the 240 gyuto. The third knife won't fit anything we have currently. I'll double check tomorrow when I get back to work on the Mac. There's a chance a Takayuki would fit.

Alternatively, if you have a knife that Mark's stock sayas cant fit then send them to Burke Cutlery and get a custom fitting for a good deal.

Even the Japanese ones look like the same price to me??
Eh, either way. Exchange rates are exchange rates. Stuff's not getting any cheaper!
