Okay so a little bit after the initial making. Here are my thoughts.
1) My Richmond AS gyuto has found new life now. I'm all for having a saya for your knives. Even if not for saftey concerns (for you or the knife) it's good to have a saya for your knife if it's in a drawer.
2) It feels special to pull a knife out of a saya and make dinner.
