Sakia Takayuki vs the rest of the best.

Thu Oct 18, 2012 10:16 pm

good day to all.Hope you might have some valuable feedback that might help with my decision. The more I search for my "favorite blade",the more my head spins.I presently use and rather like my old Sabatiers. The only drawback in my humble opinion is that they constantly need sharpening.I think it's time to add a new blade that can hold an edge a bit longer, and is a pleasure to use.I like the edge I get on my carbon steel blades, but I confess,I'm tired of the high maintenance.I've gone from wanting a Kikuchi tkc,to thinking I needed a Konosuke HD.Now I'm presently thinking I really want a Sakai Takayuki damascus. Are you following my drift?I like the idea of a carbon core surrounded by a stainless outer composition.Am I over thinking this?I have not seen any reviews on the Takayuki damascus,so I was hoping someone might shed some light on this knife. Thanks in advance,Peter.

Wow! I have exactly the same question. I guess nobody has a take on the Takayuki damascus?

I don't believe that the Sakai Takayuki have a carbon core and stainless damascus outer panels?? I believe they are SS core, SS damascus outer panels. Some of them have AEB-L for the core, which is a nice steel!

My thoughts, as well. High price point G3, or the less expensive AEB-L.
