Richmond Laser vs Richmond Artifex blade thickness

Wed Jan 23, 2013 7:53 pm

Can anyone tell me how the blade thickness of the Richmond Laser compares to that of the Richmond Artifex? Is it much thinner at the spine? And is it much thinner just above the edge?

Exact mearurements would be nice, but a general idea will do.

The Laser comes with a thinner shoulder (that area right above the edge) for sure.

Spine thickness I couldn't comment on though without getting home and I can't remember if I took spine measurements of the Laser or not. I know I do of the Artifex though and I know I have shoulder measurements of both.

Although spine measurements do ultimately matter, the shoulder matters so much more IMHO.

This point is commonly lost partly because spine thickness is an easier think to measure. How thick it is behind the edge is way more important for cutting performance.
