I am only interested in one of these at this time. I know the running joke is you never know when. But I would like to know if Voodoo is on the way and an estimate on cost more or less expensive then the other lasers or the same price?

If no Voodoo then estimated time on more AS Lasers?

Thank you love your site and LOVE the grind on that AS Laser i must have one. :D

I've been testing an AS Laser 240 Gyuto loaner and I am mighty impressed with the grind in this thing. It's just a great all around performer ITK. It seems to do everything well. Mark hit a home run on this one!

I think Mark gets small batches in here and there on the AS Laser Gyutos. Keep your eyes and ears open and snatch one up when they appear :-).

If the same knife as the current AS Laser was available in HAP40 that's what I would opt for. But the AS is great in its own right and I wouldn't deny myself a great knife while waiting.

What I would like to see is a non clad HAP40 laser in the style of the original AEB-L models. Since dreaming is free, maybe an extra thin version and also offered in a 270.

Rick, wouldn't a non-clad HAP40 blade be a B-I-T-C-H to thin, though? I'm just speculating :-).

You have to remember that there is less need for sharpening with the HAP40. Less sharpening equals less need for thinning.

But, yeah, thinning could be a chore I suppose. But no worse than abrasion resistant stainless. Atoma 140 time.

Man I can see it now. A Sakai Yusuke extra thin 270 made from HAP40. Less than 1.5mm at the spine. I wonder what structural problems would rear up?

Cheers,

Rick

If it was monosteel you would see the price go way up too.

Ok so in the time that the AS Lasers were sold out I looked at the Kohetsu AS and fell in love with the 210.

So I have to ask other then cool factor(which imo is the coolest knife on the site because a Japanese knife is beautiful because it's sharp) is the Richmond 30$ better then the Kohetsu? I am not rich.
