Richmond Artifex Extra Tall Gyuto

Mon Apr 29, 2013 8:06 pm

Hello Mark and Susan,
I recently bought a Richmond Artifex 240mm Extra Tall Gyuto. It has "Richmond Addict" engraved on the side of it and I basically took this to mean that this extra tall version of the Artifex was simply the blade of an Addict with the European handle of the Artifex. I am extremely happy with the knife. I am currently studying at the Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park NY, so I use the knife almost every day. In a class of sixteen people very interested in chef knives, my new knife was immediately noticed. Initially people criticized its lack of a bolster, however once they felt how lightweight and comfortable it was the immediately changed their tune. Not to mention it holds an edge better than any other knife in the class by far. The only thing that comes close is my friends' Miyabi, but when he found out I payed less than half as much for mine he had a fit. Anyways, I hope you know that you are getting a lot of good publicity here! There is just one question I was hoping you could help me with. I still am carrying around my knife in its original cardboard sleeve. Do you have a reasonably priced saya in stock that would fit my knife? Thank you so much for your time and dedication.
Sincerely, Scott

Thanks so much Scott for the nice review and kind words. We appreciate it. I'm working on a saya for this knife right now and I should have one ready in the next week or two. I'll email you when it's ready.

I second the request for a Saya. I would buy one too if offered. Nice knife.

Mark, do you have any of the ones I sent for the Wa Addict left? They may fit these?
