Ordered this knife in my never ending quest to find a "perfect" gyuto. I know this will never end, just in case some of you are laughing at me while reading this.
The knife arrived quickly as always. This is about the 10th knife I've received form Mark and I have to say it is one of the best. Of the 3 Richmond knives I have an Addict 1, Artifex 210mm Gyuto, and the 240mm Damascus Gyuto. The Damascus is many steps up in quality of blade appearance, initial edge, and especially blade grind.
Upon receiving the knife I gave it quick look over to make sure this was something I for sure wanted to give a go. It had no obvious imperfections of finish issues that I could find. The grind and taper are excellent and I suspect that once I get more time with this on larger and harder objects that this will help quite a bit with sticking. The edges on the choil and spine could be a bit more relieved for my tastes but were not sharp or painful. Cutting performance was fantastic and required little effort.
The one thing I would change or would prefer is a larger handle on the knife. Something similar in size and heft to the Kono Ebony handles. As it is the Rosewood handle is dwarfed by what is a rather substantial blade and this puts the balance about an inch to two inches forward of the handle making it fairly blade heavy. Obviously not a deal breaker but something I will be looking to remedy once funds become available.
As it stands this has jumped up with my Konosuke 270 HD, and my Kikuichi TKC 240, as one of my favorite knives to use. I will update this review once it needs to go to the stones and with further and more varied cutting. The edge out of the box was one of the best I have seen thus far and thus I didn't feel the need to sharpen it.

I'm thrilled you like the knife so much!
We're working on some in house wa handles that I will make sure are a little larger. Isaiah is doing 100 of them as an initial batch. They should be cool.

Thanks Mark. Yes I am very pleased with the blade. Feel free to put this under the review on the sales page if it will fit/ you want to. I tried to do a review after receiving it but it didn't post for some reason. The knife will likely be my first knife to get rehandled at some point when I have a bit of spare coin on hand or run into a good deal.
And the factory edge is still pretty darn sharp after about a month worth of use.
