Working on a George wolstenholm celebrated Ixl 7/8 near wedge. It has very nice etching on the blade. Should I use one or two pieces of tape to hone. I have been using only one, it's taking quite awhile to get back to the slight smile profile of the blade. I'm not into the etching, and most likely won't be by the time I'm done. Should I just keep going and be patient? Using the 400 latte stone. Maybe should really be using something a little coarser first? This is my coarsest stone currently. Maybe I should get a 150 bamboo for next time?

use 2-3 tapes on the spine. move up to 1k stone. make sure the tape is fresh from wear by replacing tape. dont move to a higer grit until the razor shaves armhair.

Thanks. I thought I might need another piece of tape but I didn't want to over do it.
